TV station office hit in Iraq blast

A deadly bomb attack has hit the offices of a majority-Saudi owned TV station in Baghdad. At least seven people are reported dead and over 16 others injured in the blast, which happened in the west of the Iraqi capital.

It is thought the explosion was the result of a car bomb. It is reported the building, housing al Arabiya television, was seriously damaged by fire. The satellite station has often been verbally attacked on militant Islamist websites for what is perceived to be its pro-Western editorial line. It is not clear whether al Arabiya was the intended target. Meanwhile, west of Baghdad, it is reported that eight US Marines have been killed and nine wounded.
